Rider Review: 2000 Honda CB125T

by Marcus Miller

Written from the perspective of a California instructor who runs 12 of these "Rainbows" every weekend at the site:

This is THE PERFECT TRAINER bike for most people to learn how to ride on! Perfect for them and perfect for the course (and perfect for the instructors):

Pros:

Light weight and relatively low seat height. We've cut the foam down on some seats to make them even lower. By rotating handlebars forward and back you can adjust to fit many different size riders easily. Brakes are reasonably strong but linear and moderately forgiving of unintentional grabs. The engine is smooth and the powerband is wide - it builds power gradually. The steering is good - stable but agile.

The Great:

These bikes are indestructable (nearly)! This particular site has had the same bikes for over 12 years and they still start and run every weekend. They've been tossed, thrown, banged, dumped, scratched, scraped! Most have seen some unintentional dirtbiking time and many have hurdled car bumpers multiple times. They never die! I've seen plenty of loner bikes from dealers come and go and none have stood up as well as these bikes have.

The Wonderful:

12 years ago Honda imported a large number of these bikes and loaned them to many sites for use. These bikes were never sold here in the US (thought they were, and still are, elsewhere). After a while, Honda turned the loan into ownership and simply gave the bikes to the program!

If you have a chance to ride one in your class, I highly recommend it.
