I
have had my 2001 VStar classic 650 sence november and have put
just over 1000 miles on it. Just a little discription/comparison
to the custom. The fork tubes have covers to make them wider
and beefier looking. The front tire is wider tham the custom's
and the front fender is larger. The rear fender does come down
instead of the bobed rear fender of the custom.
Pros:
It has a low seat hight of 27.9" wich even my mom at
5'3" can flat foot. It's comfortable even on a long ride.
It handles really well for its weight (505 lbs dry). This
bike is one of the best handleing bikes I have ridden. The
649 cc engine gives plenty of power even with the shaft drive
for both solo and two up riding (80 mph two upwith out a problem).
So over all it is a great ride for the price, $5,899.
Cons:
The
oil is a pain in the tail pipe to change do to the location
of the oil plug, under the side stand. My wife says she can't
feel her rear end after about the first 30 min. The shaft
drive does take away some of the power but not enogh for me
to notice.
