I
bought a 2003 model, have been riding about 45 days now (1000
mi.) and love it. It fits my body size well, (6'0", 200
lbs.) and is comfortable on city rides and short highway rides.
The seat is a a** burner after about 100 mi., a custom seat
is on the wish list. A good low maintenance bike, shaft drive
and hydraulic valves. The tach and fuel gauge is something that
many models don't have anymore. Good torque in low and high
range, big enough for touring, but easy to handle in traffic.
The break-in period is under 5k for 500 mi. and then a first
service, under 6k until 1000 mi. In high gear at 5k, it's going
70-75 mph. Plenty fast for me. The only problems so far has
been a leaky left engine cover and a final drive seal (both
fixed in 2 hrs. under warranty). The fuel gauge is nice, but
is not real accurate. It is accurate to tell you that you may
need to go to reserve pretty quick. It stays at "Full"
for a long time until it reaches "Half" and then it
goes to "E" in a hurry! I would recommend this bike
for a beginner or intermediate skilled rider. I looked at the
V-star, but I wanted a liquid cooled engine. Good luck with
your choice, I love my 750!
