Scooters |
We
know what you're thinking: scooters aren't motorcycles. They don't
have the style, the performance, or the emotional appeal of motorcycles.

If
dual-sport bikes don't sell as well in the U.S. as in other countries,
then scooters haven't even been spotted on the US radars yet.
In
crowded city streets, however, it's tough to beat a scooter's
maneuverability, fuel efficiency, and general ease of operation.
For the right rider, a scooter can be an ideal introduction to
the two-wheeled world, especially those who relish the thought
of automatic transmissions. Besides, scooters, like beginner bikes
in general, are a blast to ride, even for experienced riders.
We've
only tested scooters with engine-sizes of at least 125cc--the
so-called "touring"
scooters. These machines offer performance similar to that of
smaller motorcycles. And not only smaller ones: the trend among
manufacturers is toward scooters with large-displacement engines
and luxurious cockpits that exceed the comfort of most motorcycles. |
