Now
in its seventeenth year, the Ninja 250R is a superb choice for
the beginning rider. Though it features the full fairing of a
larger sportbike, its seating position is only slightly more aggressive
than that of, say, Honda's
250 Nighthawk -- i.e., about ideal for learning
to ride on. To move the bike along, the engine likes to be revved
higher than other beginner bikes, which will be disconcerting
to some. Still, the Ninja 250 is a practical, confidence-inspiring
machine. It's amazing what performance and features this bike
offers for the price. Seat height: 29.3 inches.
In the
250cc market the Ninja offers the most bang for the buck.
Compared to the identically priced Rebel and GZ250, the Ninja
offers disc brakes on both axles, liquid cooling, along with
decent wind protection in the form of full body fairing. If
you want to begin your riding career in the sportbike realm,
this is the bike for you. Be warned though, the Ninja is also
the most expensive to insure in the 250cc market. Call for
a quote, then ask for the premium on a 250 Rebel and note
the difference.
