Some
beginning riders simply have to have a race-replica sportbike.
If that's you, Aprilia's RS50 is a terrific option. The cockpit
is cramped, and bends you into classic racetrack posture--arms
forward, weight on the wrists, rear-end perched high. You're
not likely to spend hours at a time on it. Nevertheless, this
50cc, 196-pound machine is an absolute hoot to ride. Features
include liquid cooling, disc brakes front and rear, and six-speed
transmission. Seat height: 31.9 inches.
Great
bike - all the looks of a sportbike in a package that is
very easily handled by the most novice rider. Only drawback
is lack of highway capability.
Perfect
around town bike, docile but stylish. Downside is price
at $500 more than a Ninja 250. As stated, no highway capability
but can be rectified with a big bore kit. Still not technically
legal but a cop is unlikely to pull one over doing to speed
limit to check on what's under the fairings.
