One
of the best beginner bikes on the market. The V-Star is gorgeous,
well thought out, maneuverable, balanced, comfortable, predictable,
reliable. It simply works. Like the Honda750
A.C.E. and Spirit,
or Kawasaki's Vulcan
800 and Vulcan
800 Classic, it may be a tad large for someone
who has never ridden a bike before, but it feels smaller than
it looks. As is the case with the V-Star 1100 Classic, Yamaha
has perfected the classic V-twin look with this machine, and
given it shaft drive too. Seat height: 28 inches.
V-star
reputation for grabby clutch is bothersome. This is a better
choice than a 750 or 800 but there are plenty of other cruisers
that are more beginner friendly.
It's
heavy for a sub-750cc bike. Not heavy enough to get a new
rider into trouble mind you. It's also wide, so if you have
a short inseam you'll be stretching around that fat tank.
But I've always eld onto the belief that the bike has to
fit you, if the shoe fits wear it. I give it my typical
mid size cruiser B rating.
